This is a former site of mine. I recently sold it as I decided to focus on current work and projects. That said, this was my prized possession. I started this in March 2008 (and owned it until April 2015). It was originally on vBulletin 3.5 and eventually, I upgraded to XenForo as I felt the future of vBulletin to be uncertain and the potential of XenForo was limitless. At one point, the site featured a homepage that was bridged to WordPress.
Forums, in my opinion, are the hardest websites to run on the internet. To start them, you’re facing a catch-22 as they require activity to boost activity. Although, I built the site up to be considered a “big-board.” This means it fell under these qualifications:
- Has 500,000+ posts OR
- Has 350,000+ posts AND
- Has been online for 3+ years.
- Contains significant content in your niche.
- Demonstrates a commitment towards community growth.
I found this extremely difficult as The Best Forum Ever was about everything and nothing being that it was a General Discussion forum. This was such a great site from the moment I opened it until the moment I closed it. The relationships made on there, I’ll forever remember. Interestingly enough, I had members who ended up recently getting engaged.
