This is my first piece since my computer crashed deleting all my works in progress. I was distraught which caused a huge creative block. It wasn’t until a friend gave me the inspiration of using this image of Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland. This piece was meant to appease my use of different patterns. It was definitely a great distraction for all the bad that was happening at the time.

With Beauty Comes Art
Shortly after I finished posting my piece on Perseus with the Head of Medusa, I asked my friends on Facebook for some ideas. It was my friend Yori that came up with the idea of appropriating the Birth of Venus after seeing my past art. I knew right away tackling Renaissance Artwork is incredibly difficult with how amazing it is to begin with. I went back and forth from hating it and loving it. Combine that with the amount of changes I did that required me to bounce back and forth between Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop is way too high. I can honestly say that this is my favorite piece to date solely because it wasn’t necessarily for anyone but me. DO NOT BUY THIS.
Perseus with the Head of Medusa
I am really having a ton of fun doing these. After showing my sisters’ pieces on Facebook and Instagram, I got a number of requests to make a piece. The one I accepted was from my friend, Saira. She helps with drawing and I felt that this was the least I could do to reciprocate for her free services. Her only request was she wanted Perseus with the Head of Medusa. This is a famous statue in Italy and immediately, I knew I was in for a challenge. It was more difficult than prior pieces, but I am so satisfied with the result. She loves it which at the end of the day, matters most.
Home is Where the Elephant Is
When my sister Stephanie asked for an art piece for the holidays, I gladly obliged and made something amazing. Of course, my other sister, Gina, wanted something as well. Although, unlike Stephanie, Gina did not tell me what she wanted the subject to be. I had total creative freedom. The first thing I thought of was glorifying Louisiana State University as she is currently a student there. I quickly realized that I didn’t have any connection to the photos. It was then, I realized what I wanted the subject to be.
Gina was always the one that struggled to be far from home. She used to hate sleepovers that were down the street. She always was relatively close to home. Being 1,400 miles away is quite the undertaking and I give her immense credit. That is where I got the idea of this piece. I decided to bring a piece of home to Louisiana by giving my artistic perspective of Lucy the Elephant to my sister.
The only thing that stands out is the use of font in this piece. Gina loves seeing those inspirational and motivational wall pieces that have some generic statements on it. I felt that I was obligated to add that part. Although, I didn’t want to do the whole cliche look of the pieces she likes. Instead, I drew inspiration from Basquiat. Overall, I am shocked with how well this turned out and excited to hear what my sister thinks of it (as she hasn’t seen it at the time of writing this)!
Reimagination of Audrey “Tiffany Blue” Bubblegum
For the holidays, my sister asked for an art piece from me. She really put me in a spot when the only request is that I appropriate Michael Moebius’ “Audrey “Tiffany Blue” Bubblegum.” This was a real challenge because this is an already iconic art piece. My sister really enjoys Audrey Hepburn and especially this piece because it combines the representation of pure elegance with Audrey Hepburn as well as the iconic “Tiffany Blue” representing her love for branding and fashion. I had many different variations before I realized that I could make it really pop out with the colors and give my own touch by adding some over the top elegance. Can definitely say this is my favorite piece to date and makes me want to learn mixed media street art.
