I would like to give some understanding on the process I take to develop a digital presence applicable for personal or commercial exposure. This is the same procedure I use for my own websites and my clients. Most people are unfamiliar with what goes into creating and maintaining a proper digital presence. The idea is to create something that would showcase yourself and/or your business. We are no longer in a time where uploading a website is acceptable despite how easy commercials or advertisements makes it seem.
Brand strategy is where we blueprint the basis of their digital presence currently and their projected future goal. I sit down with clients to discuss their business and to develop a full understanding of the service or product they are marketing. I want to have a complete insight as, the more information I obtain, the better I can create a digital presence that equally represents the business like the brick and mortar of the building. From this, I can devise what the client expects from their digital presence and their goals. It also allows me to discuss their likes and dislikes so I can best present their business.
The idea measure twice and cut once comes into mind here. If you’re familiar with that concept, this is essentially the digital version. I look at the business from a customer perspective. I will review their current digital presence. The more information gathered, the better results we will have. During the research, I will gather information about the client’s industry which will allow me to have a complete understanding for moving forward and completing the task.
Once we get all the measurements down, I create the equivalent to a rough draft of your digital presence. This is the time I get back together with the client and review the product. Now, all questions and concerns are addressed so that an accurate design can become the final product. There may or may not be changes, but all will be done with the business’s best interest weighed against the industry standards and future. My goal is to ensure my client stands out from their competition.
Once I have approval, it’s full steam ahead. From start to finish, the digital presence will be worked on until completion. Although, this is not where we end our collaboration. This is not necessarily the finished product but the final draft before we proceed with the presence. Every feature and graphic has been created and we’re almost ready for implementation.
Before going into the stress test, I take your website and I fully optimize it so the user has the best experience possible as well as search engines. We want your site to run at the fastest speed possible with your set requirements and make sure all the code isn’t giving off any errors. Search engines such as Google have certain requirements for the best possible ranking using their algorithms. I make sure everything is seen properly and to the best of its abilities.
Any good product goes through testing. Once we have the final draft, the client will review the new updated and upgraded digital presence. While I do rigorous testing on my own, it is preferred criticism from those of all different skill and understanding backgrounds. Final tweaks can still be made.
Before we implement the new digital presence, it is extremely important to educate the client on the functions. Whether we focus on their website, their social media, or anything else, I want to make sure my client has a complete knowledge of the product and how to use it optimally. Having a great looking digital presence is wonderful, but if the client doesn’t totally understand the benefits as well as how to use it, the full effect isn’t achieved.
Once there is no further concerns or changes, I will finally transfer everything to their proper locations. I want to make sure everything is running perfectly and will be always available to address all questions and concerns. I want my client is comfortable and excited with the final product so the experience is smooth and stress free.
Social media and the internet changes frequently. Algorithms are constantly updated and tweaked. There are always new methods that dominate the field. The websites I create use the open source content management system, WordPress. This system is actively updated to improve and secure any issues. While this is optional for the client, it is highly recommended as they will be constantly monitored. This will alleviate any worries of being behind in social media trends or your website becoming insecure.
Everyone is familiar with the phase a New York minute. The internet is a whole different beast and makes a New York minute seem like a year because things change constantly on the stop of a dime. While I create a digital presence that prepares your brand for the future, it’s always important to think ahead. While major changes may not be necessary, it is always good to be thinking of tweaks to help stay up to date in your business.
With digital presence, your goal is to attract a potential buyer so they become your customer. Your content is extremely important as it is a big part of your digital creation. Consistently and constantly designing different content is key to attracting new customers while maintaining your current customers. My job is to make it easy for your customers to navigate and understand your business while making this experience a smooth process for you from start to finish.
